Ystalyfera Secondary
Welcome to Ysgol Gymraeg Ystalyfera secondary site, a Welsh medium school with a rich history, whilst very much looking to the future.
The school, Ysgol Gymraeg Ystalyfera – Bro Dur is now in its fifth decade with over 1,500 pupils and our sister schools, Llanhari (1974); Y Strade (1977); Gŵyr (1984); BrynTawe (2003); Llangynwyd (2008) and Bro Dur (2018) have naturally evolved from that historic beginning in September 1969.
We are proud of our tradition, which extends over fifty years. During this period we have celebrated our former students’ successes in so many distinctive fields such as the sporting arena, in the Arts, business, and academia and in a range of vocational domains. Our students’ regular and continued success in external examinations, as well as within a host of extracurricular fields is testament to that excellent tradition.
Ysgol Gymraeg Ystalyfera is situated in the village of Ystalyfera at the top of the beautiful Swansea valley. We serve a large catchment area extending from Brynamman in the west to Trebannws in the south and a growing number of pupils join us from south Powys and east Carmarthenshire.
We are a happy and highly successful school. Consistent results across all key stages, impressive levels of value-addedness and very high levels of wellbeing combine to produce an environment in which pupils can succeed to be their best within an aspirational and supportive culture.
If you would like to join us, or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you
